Health, wealth, and knowledge of self

I Heart Juice...... so today I made the most delicious juice. One of my NYE's goals is to be healthier overall which includes eating (or drinking) more fruits and especially more vegetables. So today not only did I workout but I also drank seriously huge glass of the yummiest juice. I am so awesome!
So, what was in this most delicious concoction you ask........roll call please:

1 big apple                                                              1 beet
5 carrots
3 celery stalks
2 1-inch pieces of ginger root

As you will see from the pictures when making juice a lot of the plant matter is left behind and I am pretty sure that's where the fiber lives which IS important. However, a glass of juice a few days a week is still a good idea to get a bunch of vitamins through your food in an efficient manner. It wasn't even as expensive as I thought it would be which is always learned. Celery, carrots, apples, and ginger root ( I just realized how cheap ginger actually is, it always seemed pricey but its not that heavy so the price per pound is not even close to what a big chunker of root will cost you...Yay) can all be affordable. The beets were the priciest because they pack some heft  but are worth it nutritionally speaking. I haven't gone there yet but adding greens is cheap and super healthy. I am pretty obsessed with the above recipe because it tastes so wonderful (especially with so much ginger it burns your face off...love that).

So here's to being healthy and taking care of ourselves in 2012. Also, cheers to my roomie whose juicer I get to use. So lucky!!!

It was delish! I do think that one needs to eat veggies and fruits as well for the fiber and I am guessing maybe you miss some other goodies with all the leftovers, as you will see below there is quite a bit of solid plant matter left behind. That being said I believe juice is a great way to ingest your vitamins. So cheers here's to my roomie whose juicer I get to use and to our health.

Stop Being Ridiculous and Start Being Awesome Exhibit A: how i stopped hating on angelina jolie

Source via Magxone

So I am usually kinda annoyed in general about Angelina Jolie; I am sick of hearing about how everyone in the world wants to makeout with her gorgeous face, her hot hubby (aka Mr.Brad Pitt), her adorable posse of little people she totes around on her world travels to far flung destinations, her kickin' job, and her being a U.N. Ambassador for peace or something (a job I would kill for btw, which I am pretty sure goes against the premise of being a humanitarian but whatever) and yes I realize my petty thoughts are called being jealous, thank you. However, I read this awesome article by this hilarious chick, Jen Dzuira, that made me realize I don't hate Angie, no in fact I think she has bad ass life and instead of rolling my eyes at her awesomeness I am now going to be a champion for her, and all other women (and men!) rockin it (something your great at fyi, which is one of the many reasons I love you). Now I give Angie a high five and hells yeah! Hmmm 2012, the year I truy stopped being ridiculous and started being awesome.
